Did you know that 1/3 of deaths in children under 5 years of age are caused by illness that could be easily prevented by means of vaccinations? Vaccination is the easiest, cheapest and the most effective method of medical intervention for saving the lives of children all around the world. Unfortunately, a lot of children still don’t have access to proper vaccines, let alone other basic medications. Is there a way to change this situation?
Global disasters worsen the situation
Where disaster strikes, there is always a problem with access to safe drinking water and basic hygiene products. The problem is even worse in countries touched by poverty. There the situation becomes a life-threatening one. In poor regions of the world, it is common that not many children are vaccinated. There are often no suitable conditions to store the vaccines. In addition, many people live in hard-to-reach areas. All of this creates a perfect storm for epidemics. That is why vaccinations for children are absolutely necessary.
Poor regions are in more danger
The mortality of children is higher in poor regions. People struggle with limited or no access to any public medical system. Preventive care is often very limited. Many children simply die due to various illnesses, although, their deaths could be prevented by means of vaccinations and basic medical care.
What to do?
The situation will not fix itself. A lot of hard work must be done to change the fate of those children. This is where the work of nonprofits comes in. Aid for Orphans Relief Foundation is one of the nonprofits that is doing everything in its power to save as many children as possible. Two of our goals are to raise the level of awareness for the need for preventive care for children and to increase access to preventive care for vulnerable children around the world.
